Explorations!

The past two days have been spent exploring San Pedro. Yesterday we took a walking tour. There are three main streets here: Front Street, Back Street, and Middle Street. And then the beach turns into a street as well because a lot of the hotels and restaurants are right on the beach. While we were walking around, the town seemed really big and overwhelming, but when we went out later it seemed a lot smaller. Yesterday we also found Maria's fruit stand, which I will be visiting frequently. She cut up a pineapple and papaya for me and it turned into my lunch yesterday and part of my breakfast today. They were beyond delicious!! For dinner we went to a small place where we got burritos and pupusas. The restaurant was Salvadorean and really yummy!
Today we rode our bikes for the first time. I was kind of frightened to ride on the gravel roads and on the beach, but the most frightening part was definitely trying to not get hit by a golf cart or taxi. That's going to be my mission for the trip! I'm not sure who (if anyone) has the right of way, but since I'm not great at stopping I'm going to hope that I always have the right of way. We visited the high school and one of the elementary schools. Unfortunately the high school didn't have school today because the majority of students were at a track meet on the mainland, but I'm excited to meet the kids on Monday! We spent the majority of the rest of the day on the beach and by the pool, which was perfect! The beach never gets old. For dinner I went with Kelsey and her mom to a restaurant on the beach. It was a lot nicer than the various forms of Mexican food that I've been eating. I'm excited for more sunshine tomorrow!
Hasta luego,
Elizabeth :)

And we're off!

I woke up at 3:50am this morning and am currently sitting at the Charlotte airport with Jordan and Randall.  Needless to say, I'm impatiently waiting to get on the plane so I can go back to sleep!  We have a layover in Dallas and then we're off to Belize City.  From there it's just a quick plane ride to San Pedro!!  Bring on the San Pedro sunshine!!!
